Some scenes from the Day of Care for our Common HomeOur Lady of Grace Monastery, Oct. 4, 2025This day celebrated the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and the 800th anniversary of his Canticle of Creatures, and the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’: the encyclical of Pope Francis on Care of our Common Home. The day began with Mass for Care of Creation, celebrated by Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick, offering the first celebration of this Mass in our diocese. This Mass was introduced to the Roman Missal in July 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.Following Mass, a group of 20 gathered in the Monastery’s Porter House for light refreshments, then a screening of the documentary Laudato Si’ 10th Anniversary and conversation with the filmmaker, Kevin Moynihan of Halifax, Nova Scotia.The day concluded with a discussion led by Dr. Darlene O’Leary, Martha Justice Ministry, on interconnectivity and our roles, options and actions for care of our common home.www.antigonishdiocese.com/living-laudato-si-10/ ...
