Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism

“Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian Life, the gateway to life in the Spirit”
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213)

Baptism is named for the Greek word baptizein which means to ‘plunge’ or ‘immerse.’
The water is a symbolic cleansing and rebirth: the beginning of a new life as a Christian and member of the Church.

Baptism can be administered at any age: infant, child or adult.

Contact your pastor or parish for preparation and celebration.

Please note:
While our churches are closed to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
baptisms may be celebrated with the ’10-person rule’, and social distancing must apply.
