“Lord Jesus, who prayed that all might be one,
we pray to you for the unity of all Christians,
according to your will, according to your means.
May your Spirit enable us to experience the suffering caused by division,
to see our sin and to hope beyond all hope. Amen.”
Closing prayer of the Canadian Order of Worship suggested for 2024
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an annual ecumenical celebration inviting Christians everywhere to pray for unity, reflect on scripture together, and to share fellowship.
In Canada and other parts of the northern hemisphere, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is held between January 18th (the Feast of the Confession of Saint Peter) and January 25th (the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul). Resources for the celebration are developed annually by the Canadian Council of Churches (including the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops), the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism, and the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism.
