Rev. Godwin Kalu SMMM (Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy) to St John the Baptist, New Glasgow and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pictou Landing from St. Ann, Guysborough, St. Peter, Larry’s River, St. Patrick, Guysborough Intervale and St. Thomas, Salmon River Lake effective August 1, 2024.
Rev. Isidore Chidi Enyinnaya from the Diocese of Umuahia to serve as Administrator of St. Ann, Guysborough; St. Peter, Larry’s River; St. Patrick, Guysborough Intervale and St. Thomas, Salmon River Lake effective August 1, 2024.
Rev. Rowland Uzoma Agomuo from the Diocese of Aba to St. Margaret of Scotland, Arisaig and St. Mary, Lismore effective August 1, 2024.
Rev. Anthony Ndubuisi Eboh from the Diocese of Umuahia but having served six years in the Diocese of London, ON to St. Margaret of Scotland, Grand Mira; Sacred Heart, Marion Bridge as well as Chaplain at Cape Breton Regional Hospital effective April 22, 2024.
Rev. Duaine Devereaux returning from a Sabbatical Year will serve as Pastor of Our Lady of Assumption, Arichat, and St. Joseph, Petit-de-Grat effective August 15, 2024.
Rev. David Rankin, newly ordained on May 31,2024 has been appointed as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Fatima, Sydney River effective June 1, 2024
Retirements / Sabbatical / Transfer
Rev. Gary MacPherson will retire at the end of July 2024 as Chaplain to the Sisters of St. Martha. We thank Father Gary for his devoted service.
Rev. Thomas MacNeil will retire as Pastor of St John the Baptist, New Glasgow and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pictou Landing. We thank him for his devoted service. We also thank him for his acceptance to serve as Chaplain for the Sisters of St. Martha. In addition, he will continue to serve as Vicar General and Chancellor of the Diocese.
Rev. Colin MacKinnon will retire as Pastor of St. Margaret of Scotland, Arisaig and St. Mary, Lismore effective August 1, 2024. We thank him for his devoted service.
Rev. John DeCoste has retired as Pastor of Our Lady of Assumption, Arichat, and St. Joseph, Petit-de-Grat effective June 14, 2024. We thank him for his devoted service.
Rev. Richard Philiposki S.Chr. (Society of Christ) retired as Pastor of St. Mary Polish Parish, Whitney Pier effective June 24, 2024. He will be serving as seasonal Chaplain to Polish Parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, Saskatoon. We thank him for his devoted service.
Rev. Paul McGillvray retired as Pastor of St. Margaret of Scotland, Grand Mira, Sacred Heart Marion Bridge, as well as Chaplain at Cape Breton Regional Hospital effective April 22, 2024. We thank him for his devoted service.
Deacons
Deacon Michael Doyle retired from St. Ann, Guysborough; St. Peter, Larry’s River; St. Patrick, Guysborough Intervale and St. Thomas, Salmon River Lake effective April 4, 2024. We thank him for his years of devoted service.
Seminarians
Seminarian Joseph MacMaster will participate in a summer program with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in the South Bronx. The program is focused on serving the poor and homeless in the friars’ shelter and it is centered around a life of prayer. Following this summer placement, Joseph will return to our diocese in September to serve a pastoral year internship with the parish yet to be determined.
Other Appointments
Rev. Conrad Edwards completed the term for Spiritual Director for the Provincial Catholic Women’s League. He has accepted to serve as State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus for a one-year renewal term up to four years, effective July 1, 2024.
