Documents and details have been released for Phase II of the Synod of Bishops, taking place in October 2024.
Methodology:
Assembly conversations are guided by the Instrumentum laboris (working document)
_Instrumentum laboris_ENG- II Sessione XVI AGO
_Instrumentum laboris_FRA – II Sessione XVI AGO
What is the Instrumentum laboris?
As its Latin wording implies, the Instrumentun Laboris (IL) is first and foremost a working tool for the members of the Second Session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. This also justifies its language and the use of theological notions and categories in some of its parts. A theological subsidy, soon to be published, will facilitate its reading and allow for a deeper understanding of the theological notions and categories used.

Sr Elizabeth Davis rsm of St. John’s NL was among the voting members of the Synod Phase I in October 2023.
The 70 “non-bishop members” appointed by the Pope—half of whom were women—were able to vote at the Synod General Assembly in October 2023. These 70 individuals included lay people appointed directly by the Pope, 50 percent of whom were to be women and among whom were included several young people. All 70 were to enjoy voting rights at the Assembly, which consisted of around 370 voting members out of more than 400 total participants.
