Pastoral Appointments 2021

I am pleased to announce the following pastoral appointments.
The appointments will take effect on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, the feast of St. John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests (unless otherwise stated).
I am grateful for the co-operation of our priests and for the assistance of our Personnel Committee.   

 

Rev. Daniel MacLennan, Pastor of St. Mary, Mabou, will become Rector of St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish effective August 4, 2021.

 

Rev. Donald MacGillivray, Rector of St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish will become Chaplain for St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish effective August 4, 2021.

 

Rev. Daniel J. MacDonald, Pastor of Stella Maris, Inverness will become Pastor of St. Mary, Mabou effective August 4, 2021.

 

Rev. MacDonald Ibeh, Pastor of St. Michael, East Margaree will become Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, Stellarton effective August 4, 2021.

 

Rev. Barrett Clare-Johnson, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, Stellarton will become Pastor of Stella Maris, Creignish effective August 4, 2021.

 

Sons of Immaculate Conception CFIC

Rev. Joby Augustin, CFIC, will be the local Superior, new to the diocese will become Pastor of St. Michael, East Margaree, St. Patrick, North East Margaree and St Joseph, South West Margaree and Stella Maris, Inverness, St. Margaret of Scotland, Broad Cove effective August 4, 2021.

Rev. Silvichan Dominic, CFIC, new to the diocese will become Associate Pastor of St. Michael, East Margaree, St. Patrick, North East Margaree and St Joseph, South West Margaree and Stella Maris, Inverness, St. Margaret of Scotland, Broad Cove effective August 4, 2021.

Rev. (Gustave) Daniel Tshimbalanga Musakay, CFIC, bilingual priest new to the diocese will become Associate Pastor of St. Michael, East Margaree, St. Patrick, North East Margaree and St Joseph, South West Margaree and Stella Maris, Inverness, St. Margaret of Scotland, Broad Cove effective August 4, 2021.

 

Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy, SMMM

Rev. Godwin Obike, SMMM, bilingual priest, new to the diocese will become Administrator, St. Joseph, Little Bras d’Or; St. Anne, Alder Point; St. Joachim, Boularderie effective July 2, 2021.

Rev. Chinonso Francis Alaribe, SMMM, new to the diocese will become Administrator, St. Joseph, L ittle Bras d’Or; St. Anne, Alder Point; St. Joachim, Boularderie effective July 2, 2021.

Rev. Christian Emeka Ugwu, SMMM, new to the diocese will be transferring from Nigeria and he will arrive later.

 

Rev. Michel Exalant, CSC, Administrator of St. Joseph, Little Bras d’Or; St. Anne, Alder Point; St. Joachim, Boularderie will serve at the direction of his Holy Cross Superior effective July 2, 2021.

 

Rev. J. Cosmas Epifano, OSB, Chaplain to the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Grace Monastery will return to St. Peter’s Abbey in Muenster, Saskatchewan.

 

Retirement

Deacon Greg Murphy serving at Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines has retired.

 

Seminarians

Following his summer work at the Pastoral Centre, seminarian David Rankin will begin a pastoral internship year at St. John the Baptist, New Glasgow with Father Thomas MacNeil effective September 2021.

A new seminarian, Joseph MacMaster will enter St. Augustine Seminary, Toronto in September 2021.

    So sad that we are losing Father Danny in Mabou and he was doing so much for the church and parishiners here. Also so sad that Father Cosmas Epifano is leaving the Monastery A lot a people stopped there to and from Antigonish. I sincerely hope that a replacement will be sent there for this beautiful soul of a Catholic priest

    We are so sorry to lose Father Cosmas at the Monastery . Please help us find a priest to take his place as they and us are in great need.
