The Atlantic Catholic - Support

Dear friends,

Despite its relatively short life, the Atlantic Catholic should be rightly proud of its accomplishments. Every two weeks, it brings to the readers of this province, and to this its home diocese of Antigonish in particular, a view of the ongoing life of the Church at the universal, national, and local levels. No other source does the same.

Moreover, the paper attempts to do so not just by repeating news items that can be found in the secular press, but by providing thoughtful, and indeed in some cases thought-provoking, commentary on these stories. At the same time it is committed to remain faithful to the authentic teaching of the Holy Father and the bishops of the Church on matters of Catholic faith.

Despite its broad outlook, the Atlantic Catholic is committed to reflecting to its readers the ongoing life of the diocesan and parish church that will touch and reflect to others the grassroots level where so much of the meaningful activity of the Church take place. It remains open always to submissions of story ideas, stories and photos of local events and personalities that will inform and enrich the larger Catholic community by reflecting significant local events and happenings. Today too, it must be concerned with the family, youth, life and vocations issues that confront our Church at this time, and be alert also to the major issues of justice and peace that so much affect our society today, and where our Diocese has had a long and proud history.

I would urge the parishioners and parishes of the Diocese to support the Atlantic Catholic by your subscriptions, your reading and by your input. Together we can make it a Catholic paper that will both inform and be enjoyed by all concerned.

Sincerely in the Lord,
