Director of Pastoral ServicesThe role of the Director of Pastoral Services or moderator of the curia is the Bishop's coordinating office for the various pastoral offices and programs, as well as, other administrative responsibilities established within the diocese.For the most part, these offices are located at our Pastoral Centre in Sydney, NS and Fr. Mass for Shut Ins
Mass for Shut Ins, is a weekly live televised Mass which is broadcast across Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. This broadcast is now in its 36th season of live broacasting, and has come to be widely appreciated by the thousands of Atlantic Canadians who find themselves housebound, either in their own homes, or living in residential care centers, senior's complexes, or Homes for Special Care.
Mass for Shut Ins is broadcast weekly on Sundays 11:30 am, on the Atlantic Television System (ATV). Schedule for Mass for Shut-ins to be Announced in parish bulletins, etc.. Our normal season of broadcast is from the second Sunday of October until the second Sunday of May. Please check back here in the Fall for a schedule of presiders and parishes for the 2000-2001 season. Each Sunday of our broadcast season we are joined by parishes, their choirs, and parish priests who travel across the diocese to join us at the Studio Chapel for the live broadcast. The generosity of these parishes make a signifcant difference in the lives of those who join us each week. Indeed the Shut Ins often tell us that for the time of the broadcast they really experience being a part of that congregation and celebration. The producer of Mass for Shut-Ins is Rev. Volunteers are an intergral part of making this ministry available to the many Atlantic Canadians who are served by this unique program.
The Diocesan Business Office The Diocesan Business Office is the finance and administration office of the Diocese. This office is responsible for the financial accounting of Diocesan funds and the management and administration of Diocesan-owned buildings and properties. The Matrimonial Tribunal exists in this Diocese is a branch office of the Halifax Regional Tribunal which handles requests made by people who desire a Declaration of Nullity (Annulment) of their marriage. The first step for anyone who is considering seeking a Declaration of Nullity is to see their parish priest.
