Appointments for the Diocese of Antigonish - Jun 03, 2010
H.E. Most Rev. Brian Dunn, Bishop of Antigonish, announces the following appointments, which will become effective on June 30, 2010, unless otherwise specified:
- Fr. Gerald Campbell, who is completing his sabbatical, will become the Pastor of Stella Maris Parish, Pictou and Holy Name Parish, Westville.
- Fr. Gerald Dunphy, Pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Sydney and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Mira Road, will retire.
- Fr. Conrad Edwards, Pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Glace Bay, Holy Cross, Glace Bay, St. Mary, Port Morien, and St. Gregory, Donkin, will become Pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Sydney and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Mira Road.
- Fr. Andrew Gillies will be the Diocesan MC, for a three year term.
- Fr. Raymond Huntley, Pastor of Stella Maris Parish, Pictou and Holy Name Parish, Westville until June 30, 2010, will become Pastor of St. Leonard Parish, New Waterford, effective September 1, 2010.
- Fr. Angus MacDougall and Fr. Sandy MacNeil have resigned as Vicars General and Fr. Paul Abbass has been appointed as Vicar General (effective April 4, 2010), for a three year term. Fr. Paul Abbass will continue to serve as spokesperson for the Diocese.
- Fr. Donald MacGillivray, while remaining Pastor of St. Anthony Daniel Parish, Sydney and St. Anne, Membertou, will be the Director of the Office of Pastoral Planning, for a three year term.
- Fr. Hugh MacNeil, Administrator of St. Michael, East Margaree, St. Patrick, North East Margaree, and St. Joseph, South West Margaree, has resigned from this appointment due to ill health.
- Fr. Paul MacNeil, Pastor of St. Leonard Parish, New Waterford, has been granted two year leave in order to provide pastoral ministry in the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina, USA, effective September 1, 2010.
- Fr. Norman MacPhee, Pastor of St. Mary Polish Parish, Sydney and Chaplain, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, will become Pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Glace Bay, Holy Cross, Glace Bay, St. Mary, Port Morien, and St. Gregory, Donkin.
- Fr. Paul McGillvray, while remaining Pastor of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, Grand Mira and Sacred Heart, Marion Bridge, will serve as Chaplain, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
- Fr. Lourdusamy Mariadoss, Associate Pastor of Holy Guardian Angels, L’Ardoise, Immaculate Conception, Barra Head, and Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Chapel, Potlotek, will become the Administrator of these same parishes.
- Fr. Savarimuthu Rajasekar, Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Fatima, Sydney River, will become Administrator of St. Mary Polish Parish, Sydney and will reside at St. Mary’s Parish, Frenchvale.
- Fr. Vincent Van Zutphen, retired from the Diocese of London, will become the Administrator of St. Michael, East Margaree, St. Patrick, North East Margaree, and St. Joseph, South West Margaree.
