Diocesan Liturgical Commission

Dear Father,

The Diocesan Liturgical Commission met on Wednesday, August 31^st for a Study Day on the revised General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM).

We are aware that the implementation will present some challenges.  Bishop Dunn is calling us to follow a particular timeline for implementation of any changes associated with this revised GIRM.  Before any particular item is implemented, each parish is asked to provide education on this item for parishioners. In order to provide the best service for our people, each parish is asked to follow this timeline and program for education and implementation.

You can expect to have educational material (including bulletin inserts and Talking Points for explanation) within the next few weeks.   As of September 25^th, the bishops of Canada will have the authorization to begin to introduce in their diocese the liturgical modifications required by the General Instruction as well as the sung responses for the new liturgical texts in the Missal.

To facilitate some consistency in the diocese, each parish is asked to follow the dates announced for specific changes and to implement changes only after the education has taken place at the parish level.

There is no diocesan discount on the purchasing of the Missal because the CCCB has produced the book at a minimal cost. Therefore, parishes are encouraged to order the text directly from CCCB and have it delivered directly to your parish address.
