Bereaved Families of Cape
Breton
Bereaved Families of Cape Breton offers help and support for
anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. The “bereaved help the bereaved” through the
provision of support groups, information and resources.
The Education and
Resources Centre is located at the Father John Capstick
Centre and contact by phone or internet will enable the provision of Literature,
books, videos, referrals or the satisfaction of any other enquiry within a
reasonable time frame. As the staff is either part-time or volunteer, a full
time store front operation is not possible.
Support and Share
Grief groups are open to anyone who has experienced
a loss; there is no registration required and no charge to attend. Attendants are welcome to bring a support
person to these groups. Grief Support
and Share groups are currently offered in the following locations:

In addition to the monthly Grief Support and Share sessions,
Bereaved Families also offers 6-8 week Grief
Support Programs for those who have lost:
# a spouse or partner
# a child
# a parent (as an adult)
# a loved one to suicide
# a brother, sister or
friend
# a pet or companion animal.
The Grief Support Programs require registration and are
available at no charge. Groups are
scheduled when enough people have registered.
